This is a really tough game to figure out. The pre-season is simply so reliant on who plays and how much.
The Texans case to cover:
CJ Stroud gets off to a hot start and takes advantage of his first start. The Texans also have a very good backup QB in Davis Mills who was a starter last season so you aren’t getting a drop in QB production.
The Patriots case to cover:
Bill Belichick is very good in pre-season games, 50-38, and 15-8 in Week One. The Pats have two competent quarterbacks in Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe along with a great defense. It wouldn’t be shocking to see CJ Stroud have a rough first game either which would be great news for the Patriots.
