“The Chiefs, according to a league source, are unwilling to make Jones the league’s highest-paid defensive tackle.”
Jones, coming off of a 15.5-sack season, All-Pro honors and a standout postseason in the Chiefs’ Super Bowl run and victory, wants the team to back up the Brinks truck.
For Chris Jones, it’s now $1 million and counting.
Jones didn’t show up to training camp on Kansas City’s veteran report date of July 21, and has now missed 21 days going into Friday morning’s practice.
A lot of cryptic messages coming from #Chiefs Chris Jones on twitter…

This situation does not seem to be great. Chris Jones is a key part of this defense but the Chiefs clearly don’t think paying him big money is smart. If they don’t end up signing him how they will be able to fill the void he leaves. Also, how long will Chris Jones continue to take these fines?
